ASPIRE (The Asia Pacific Initiative on Reproduction), the Asia Pacific Initiative on Reproduction, is a unique task force of clinicians and scientists involved in the management of fertility and Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART). ASPIRE aims to promote awareness of infertility and ART, and to improve infertility-related services in the Asia-Pacific region. This organization was established in 2001 based on the thought that Asia Pacific population has specific characteristics, which cannot be compared to population characteristics of the 2 (two) other organizations in America and Europe.
Currently, there is 1 board member and a member of ASPIRE from Indonesia, named such as Andon Hestiantoro, MD, OG (REI) as a chairman of special interest group and Budi Wiweko, MD,OG,(REI) as a co-chair. Indonesian ASPIRE member has distributed throughout he country. “There are many benefits by being a member of ASPIRE” said Budi Wiweko. Such benefits includes the access to ART online directory, exclusive access to ASPIRE member page, reduction to ASPIRE congress admission fee, has the chance to participate in “Call for Bids” to be a host country of ASPIRE congress, and many more. The biggest event organized by ASPIRE is the congress which held biennially. In the congress, the representation from each country member will be asked to present their recent research and will be further discussed as a consensus. This year, ASPIRE Congress will be held in Osaka, Japan on August 31st – September 2nd 2012. The next ASPIRE congress will be held in Brisbane, Australia on 2014.
This year, Indonesia tries to join the bidding to be the host of the 6th Congress of ASPIRE 2016.
